Justin Lin, who left "Fast 10," the latest film in the "Wild Speed" series, will direct a new live-action film based on the popular Japanese manga "One-Pan Man.
One Pan Man" is an action comedy in which a skinhead man named Saitama, who can defeat any opponent with a single punch, pursues heroism as a hobby while waiting for an enemy who can fight him on an equal footing. In 2012, the manga was serialized in Shueisha's "Tonari no Young Jump" magazine with original story by ONE and illustrations by Yusuke Murata. It has become a bestseller not only in Japan but also in other countries around the world, and an animated TV series and game version have also been released.
According to Deadline, "One Punch Man," a new film produced by Sony Pictures and directed by Lin, was written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, the screenwriting duo behind "Jumanji: The Next Level" and "Venom. Lin will direct the rewrite with them and produce with Avi Arad & Ali Arad's Arad Productions ("Spider-Man" series, "Venom"). Sony is aiming for a series, and "One Punch Man" is expected to crank before the end of the year.
