An anime adaptation of the 2016 stage production of "Stage "Touken Ranbu" Kyoden: Kennuru Honnouji" has been decided. It has also been announced that two new performances of the "Stage "Sword Dance" series, "Guden: The Tale of the Contradictory Genji" and "Yamambagiri Kunihiro Solo Gyo -Japanese Sword History-" will be staged, and the event "Stage "Sword Dance" 7th Anniversary Thanksgiving Festival" will be held. In the "Stage "Touken Ranbu" Kyouden: Konyuru Honnouji," on which the anime version is based, Yukimitsu Fudo, the sword worn by Nobunaga Oda, is revealed as a mourning god "Katanohshi" (sword man-oji). He clashes with Sosan Left Character, Heshikiri Hasebe, Yakken Fujishiro, and others, who also served Nobunaga, and sets out for the "Honnoji Incident" in which Nobunaga lost his life. The anime version will be written and directed by Kenichi Suemitsu, who also wrote and directed the stage version. The new production, "Panyu Den: The Tale of Genji the Contradictory," will be staged in Tokyo and Osaka in February 2011. Hiroki Nanami, who will play the role of Kanefusa Utasen, and Sho Ayanagi, who will play O-Kutsura, are both former members of the Takarazuka Revue Company. The story will be told from a different angle from the previous "Stage "Sword Dance"" productions. Yamambagiri-Kunihiro Solo Journey: A History of Japanese Swords" will be performed in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Fukuoka from October to November 2011. As the title suggests, only one swordsmith, Kunihiro Yamambagiri, played by Yoshihiko Aramaki, will appear in this production. Both "Pyuuden: The Tale of Genji the Contradictory" and "Yamambagiri-Kunihiro: The Solo Journey" will be written and directed by Suemitsu. The "Stage "Touken Ranbu" 7th Anniversary Thanksgiving Festival" is scheduled to be held in the summer of 2011. A special promotional video summarizing these announcements was also released. The parts of the two new performances feature the casts of each work in stage costumes, and include footage that hints at the development of the story.
