The "Funeral Procession of the Rose King" is a dark fantasy series by Fumi Kanno, based on Shakespeare's historical plays "Henry VI" and "Richard III," currently serialized in "Monthly Princess" (Akita Shoten). The story takes place during the Wars of the Roses in medieval England, when the two houses of York, the White Rose, and Lancaster, the Red Rose, repeatedly vie for the throne. The story depicts how Richard, the third son of the York family, who is cursed with the secret of having both male and female sexuality, is led to a cruel fate. New cast members have been announced for the second season. Tomokazu Sugita plays the role of Buckingham, an ambitious man who becomes Richard's kingmaker. Yuko Kaita plays the role of Jane, who corrupts the court by seducing King Edward IV with her bewitching charm. Akira Ishida plays the role of Richmond, a survivor of the Lancastrian faction, who is working to become king himself. In addition, an advance screening and talk show will be held on April 3 at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Shinjuku, Tokyo, prior to the second-cour broadcast. Mitsuki Saiga (Richard), Tomokazu Sugita (Buckingham), Satoshi Hino (Catesby) and other cast members are scheduled to appear on stage. For more information on the event, including tickets, please check the official website. The second season of the TV anime "Funeral Arrangement of the Rose King" will begin airing on April 10 on TOKYO MX and other stations. <Cast comments are as follows Tomokazu Sugita Comment How did you feel when you were chosen to appear in "The Funeral Row of the Rose King"? When I grow up, it is this voice. Back to those pure days! I thought for sure that I would be asked to do so. But this is the voice. Please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to the anime. Please tell us rather what you are looking forward to. Whether Buckingham will listen to those words is unknown. Yuko Kaita comment How did you feel when you were chosen to perform in "The Funeral Procession of the Rose King"? I have always loved Shakespeare, and I have been to see both the "Henry VI" trilogy and "Richard III" on stage many times, so I was hooked on this play! It was interesting, dreamy and thrilling to interpret from such a new angle. So I am very happy to participate! Please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to the anime. Since this is a recording of the Corona disaster, I myself only know part of how the other performers are going to act and interact with each other. Let's wait excitedly together to see what kind of life has been breathed into this fascinating work! Akira Ishida Comment How did you feel when you were chosen to appear in "The Funeral Procession of the Rose King"? When I learned about the content of the work, I regretted my life for not having studied Shakespeare and medieval Western history properly. Because of these things, I should have packed up basic knowledge when I was a student. I now regret that I should have done so. Please give a message to the fans who are looking forward to the anime. I am sure that the viewers who have been watching the series in order will be able to accept it as a human drama with a whirlpool of desires, so I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I have. We hope that you will enjoy the combination of the aspects that are unique to the times.
